Person of the Month
PHIL BURGESS
Phil is one of six members of St Laurence Church who have just completed a
year's training to become Authorized Lay Ministers within the
church. Authorized Lay Ministry is a new initiative on the part of the
Bishop of Worcester. It is designed to encourage more lay people to play
an active part in the life of their parish church.
Five different courses of training were offered: Worship Leader, Pastoral
Visitor, Evangelist, Youth & Children's Worker and Administrator. Phil
very bravely volunteered for the Evangelist's course. It has clearly
stimulated his thinking and prompted many new ideas. Watch this space!
Phil, along with Graham Clark (Worship Leader), Karen McVeigh (Worship Leader),
Helena Allen (Worship Leader), Gloria Wilson (Youth and Children's Worker) and
Phillipa Brakes (Pastoral Visitor ) are being authorized by the Bishop in
Worcester Cathedral on Sunday 12 September at 6.30.pm. Please remember
them in your prayers.
